I’m not within the time frame of this blog but I am happy to share my information of my experience in Saigon in 1973.
I was with my dad, a Canadian Engineer sent there to oversee the construction of 3 medical clinics in Anyang Province. Long Xuyen, Thot Not and Cho Moi.

We stayed at the Caravelle Hotel and had drinks at the Continental as many did.

I for one would like to see Cary’s story since he was there @ the ‘end’ as those of us in the US remember it (the fall in 1975)
I was working in Saigon in 1966, and afterwards captured in Hue City in 1968. Came back to freedom in 1973. So any pictures or stories from that place and time will be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Yes I was there at the ‘end’ as you say, but we left long before ’75. It was quiet(ish) in Saigon. My dad was there during some bombing but he didn’t talk about it much. He was ana engineer who had a contract with the Canadian Government to oversee the construction of 3 medical clinics in Anyang Province: Long Xuyen, Thot Not, and Cho Moi. These were all pretty small towns at that time.
I arrived at the end of his contract and then we left. My dad set up his headquarters in a room in the Caravel Hotel.He used one bed as a table to spread out drawings and the other to sleep. I still have pics. We would take a couple of trips a week out to these sites and it was quite an adventure for a spoiled Canadian boy. At one point I got dysentery and had to come back to Saigon. An American officer who was a friend of my dads arranged for us to have a good old American meal at the officers club. I got better and things went ahead.
I’ll try to pop back on here later to continue my observations.
