Well, on behalf of all “Canada Saigon Kids” -lol- thank you Bob!
And Happy 4th to you all. Hope you enjoy with family and friends.
I’ll be visiting my beloved New England in a week or so, it is such a pleasant part of your country, exactly the USA you guys made me dream of when I met you.
    Hugs to all, Mimi

oh, boy, do i remember! our ship to the far east left out of SF, just like in this wonderful vintage video/song. sailed under the golden gate bridge, and our first stop was in honolulu also. we were met by daring local divers who swam after the shiny quarters that we threw off the ship. there were leis, too, but, unlike in the video clip, we didn’t stay long in hawaii, and moved on to the philippines and japan before debarking in hong kong.
we flew on to saigon from HK, and two years later flew back to the states on a MATS plane.
i wanted to close the watery pacific loop, so ten or fifteen years ago, i chose to fly to hong kong then picked up a freighter to sail back across the pacific. ended the trip under that glorious golden gate bridge, coming into san francisco.
thanks for the the memory refresher, bob and nancy…
and happy canada day and fourth to all!

Being the big mouth on this site, allow me to get my two cents worth in and wish each and all a Safe and Happy 4th of July. My apologies to our Canadian neighbors for not saying something about their holiday. And my fellow and lady citizens, don’t forget to vote (wisely) in November. An important mid-term election.

Ken. My wife’s 93 year old mother, who lives by herself, will be voting. (Suzy does all her shopping for her and takes her to the doctor when needed.) Marie Belle, that is her name, votes by absentee ballot every election. She never misses one! She asked me, “why would anyone vote for anyone that says they hate the U.S. Government? Why would you hire someone to be in a company that says they want to destroy it?” I agree, elections are so important. I wonder if many people who say they wish the U.S. Constitution was followed really knew that it says. “Voting” is the most mentioned item in it. I do miss teaching high school “U.S. Constitution”, but it was getting harder to do because of ideology differences getting in the way. Just before I quit, I felt like it was so hard to straddle a fence and I did not like it!
