Saigon Kids Stories: Bachelor Officers Late For 1964 Christmas Eve Dinner

by Arnon *Elaine* Reichers (ACS)

I don’t remember how we got home from school the day of the evacuation in February 1964.

I do remember my family was on the first plane out for some reason.

Christmas Eve 1964 when the Brinks blew up, my parents were hosting a few bachelor officers over for a Christmas Eve dinner.

I remember they were all late, because they had gone down to the military hospital to donate blood first.

I went by my middle name then: Elaine.
