Saigon Landmarks: REX HOTEL (1912 - 2008) - Photo Gallery

Additional Rex Hotel pictures have been posted in the Photo Gallery … 23 in all. They span the time frame from when the property was the Bainier Garage and Auto Hall (1920s) through 2008. I’ll add more descriptions and historical information to each picture in the near future.

If anyone has other pictures of the Rex, please forward them to me so I can add them to the collection.

Enjoy …

Bob

I often ate at the Rex rooftop restaurant in 1966 because I lived just down the street on Nguyen Hue. I remember enjoying a nice steak dinner there one night while watching the flames leaping from a Viet Cong attack on a depot just a few miles away. People were dying and there was nothing I could do about it. Strange war! The other most memorable part of the Rex was the tiny elevator cars up to the restaurant. I always worried we would not make it to the top floor.
