George – Yes, I have it programmed to ‘lock out’ after ‘X number’ of attempts with wrong password. This prevents ‘robots’ and ‘hackers’ from gaining access, etc. I’ll reset your password and email it to you.

I was just looking at the Saigon Kids site and was so shocked to see how many of us have already passed away. While I realize that we are all getting older, we get sick or we have accidents, still, to me, it is a shock when you read the name of a friend or schoolmate who has died, always far too early.

While it may seem somewhat eerie, I would like to suggest an obituary column where a friend or family member could post notice of a passing some information on the life of that person.

I just learned recently, if the information is correct, that Terry Coleman passed away as a result of his work at the World Trade Center rescue site. This man goes down in my book as a hero.

Anyway, it is just my two cents (whose value is depreciating rapidly here in Europe).

Obviously, Bob, I have no idea if you got the right connection but it probably is on target. I’ve emails the alumni asso. at Sou. Ill. Univ. Carbondale and asked them to contact her if they have any current information on her. Let’s see what happens. We do grow, albeit slowly. Ken

Ken – My memory is a bit fuzzy, but there was a Frank Walthers who was a very, very close friend of my dad’s. I think Karen was his daughter (this is my fuzzy memory part – lol). Frank Walthers and his wife retired from the State Dept. spending the rest of their lives living on the Gold Coast of Oahu, Hawaii. They lived in the 2900 to 3100 block (approximately) of KalaKaua Avenue, Honolulu, Hawaii. I believe they’ve passed away now. If not, they would be in their mid to late 80′s. The last time I had contact with them was in the mid-1980s.

Well, I’ve been in contact with Frank Durham (class of 62) and passed on info on this site and Roy’s but I don’t see that he has come forward yet. Hopefully soon. He did tell me he lost contact with his old flame Karen Walthers after I asked him about her. I will try her alumni asso. and see if I can find something on her. Always nice to bring another one into the fold. More later. Ken

Anyone know of the whereabouts of Ingrid Blaufarb, who was in ACS in 1958, and lived just down Rue Richaud/Phan dinh Phung from me. The Colby’s lived there after the Blaufarbs left.
How about John Treat, also 1958-59 time frame, or Janet Bogardus, Chan Durbrow or Jimmy Turnbull? Some were still there when we made an emergency trip stateside and never returned. Always wondered what happened to these friends…no internet back then.

@ Jay – My family lived at JDP in 1964. My kid sister Debbie was about eight at the time so perhaps younger than you and out of your age group. I lived there too for a bit in late 1963 and had a red motorcycle. Tickle any memories.

I was short lived at the ACS, JAN ’64 to school letting out for the summer. But it was an experience I’ll never forget. My Dad worked for USOM in Long Xugen provence. We lived on the JDP Compound next to Tan San Nhuet Airbase. Would love to hook up with anyone who lived there in 1964.

Saw Rick in San Diego last week. He took us to a bunch of his old places of interest during his college days. Great burgers, pizza…he even took us on M.C.R.D….I would not have gone otherwise! Have not been there since 1966. Weird…guess the name of the Gate Guard?!! You guessed it…STODDARD!! That is weird, isn’t it! Even the Gate Guard thought it strange. Hasn’t change much…except the old huts I lived in are gone and it is part of the obstacle course!
Rick is doing great.
Arlene and her husband David came by Saturday for a few hours.Short but great time!!!
