WELCOME TO 2015 SAIGON KIDS™

By Admin

Happy New Year 2015

59 years ago the first classes of what would become American Community School Saigon where held.

50 years ago this year our American Community School in Saigon closed it’s doors with the evacuation of U.S. dependents.

With each ending there is also a new beginning.

50 years ago this year the 3rd Field Hospital opened it’s doors in our old school buildings.

With the transition the hallowed halls we knew as a temple of learning became a temple of healing.

When a door closes another door always opens.

After the war our old school buildings remained a temple of healing when they became a reforestation research facility dedicated to healing the lands of Viet Nam wounded by war.

I’m honored to have walked those hallowed halls of American Community School Saigon with you so many years ago in that far away place called — Sai Gon — Paris of the Orient.

May 2015 be filled with many, many blessings for you of good health, prosperity, happiness and longevity.

New Year 2015 fireworks from around the world…

Bob, many thanks for maintaining our Saigon Kids website. Without you, I am not sure we’d all have a way to stay in touch or find lost friends.
Best wishes for 2015 from Phnom Penh,
    Cathie

I remember going to third grade in 1955 in a Quonset hut. Mrs Lavergne was my teacher. Her daughter Hillary was also in my grade. School started at 7:30 and you were out at noon. French was taught in the lower grades. Also Greek mythology was taught–don’t know why but I still remember a lot. Probably all part of Calvert system’s curriculum. I remember when one of the Quonset huts burned and had to go to school at an oil company’s very nice office building. Funny how things stick out in your mind.

Happy New Year to old friends and those whose names I do not recognize. Now that doesn’t mean I didn’t know you, it just means I can’t remember names very well anymore. But I wish all ya’ll the very best, healthy, prosperous, and loving New Year 2015!
